Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chairman Devlet Bahçeli offered critical insights into current affairs during the second part of his interview with Türkgün newspaper. Bahçeli specifically addressed the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDG), asserting that the group has not complied with the February 27 call issued from İmralı. He stressed the imperative for the SDG to adhere to the March 10 agreement signed with the Damascus administration.

Bahçeli recalled that the PKK laid down its arms on May 12, with a faction burning their weapons on July 11. He clarified, “The call from İmralı encompasses the PKK as well as all its components. This is our understanding.” He further stated that the new era envisioned by the MHP extends beyond mere security, aiming for a process of societal healing. “We want to untie the knots of prejudice. We desire to revive closed dialogues at a higher level of consensus,” Bahçeli remarked, emphasizing a path towards broader national unity.

Call to SDG and Vision for Türkiye

Highlighting his expectations from the SDG, Bahçeli stated, “The founding leadership of the PKK has taken responsibility... The PKK laid down arms on May 12 and dissolved its organizational presence... A group of PKK members burned their weapons on July 11. Especially in northeastern Syria, the SDG/YPG has not yet laid down arms, nor has it complied with the February 27 İmralı call. However, İmralı's call encompasses all components of separatist terror... The SDG/YPG must absolutely adhere to the March 10 agreement signed with the Damascus administration.” He also referenced Salih Müslim's comments on a commission meeting with Öcalan, noting, “'No democracy, no integration'.”

Bahçeli firmly rejected any notion of negotiation with terror, declaring, “Our nation will not listen to or credit those who seek to poison the goal of 'Terror-Free Türkiye'. We are completely closed to a give-and-take process.” He underscored that the primary objective of a "Terror-Free Türkiye" is to dismantle "imperialism-manufactured seeds of discord" between Turks and Kurds, asserting the inherent brotherhood. “My Kurdish brothers and sisters have no connection or link to terror, near or far,” he added.

Concluding his remarks, Bahçeli extended an invitation to those who have been misled but not involved in armed actions. “Anyone who has been deceived and misled for different motives and reasons, but has not been involved in crime or armed action, should come and embrace their families,” he urged. He affirmed Türkiye's compassionate yet resolute stance, stating, “The Republic of Türkiye is majestic, and also compassionate. Separatist ambitions... will be discarded.”
