📝 Brief.tr Editorial Guidelines & Ethics Standards

Effective Date: 14 December 2025

Brief.tr adopts a liberal and socially responsible approach to journalism while delivering news from Turkey, the Middle East, and the world. Trust, transparency, and accountability are the cornerstones of our journalism.

I. Our Core Journalistic Principles

1. Accuracy and Objectivity

Commitment to Fact: Every news item, claim, and data point we publish is verified from multiple reliable sources (Fact-Checking) before publication. Our news text avoids speculation or rumor.
Balance and Impartiality: We strive for the most balanced presentation possible by including diverse perspectives and the views of relevant parties. Objectivity is our commitment to presenting information on a neutral ground, not an attempt to adopt an emotional or political stance.

2. Independence and Transparency

Editorial Independence: Brief.tr is not affiliated with any political party, commercial enterprise, or special interest group. All our editorial decisions are made solely on the basis of journalistic values.
Conflict of Interest: Our reporters and editors strictly avoid any financial or personal conflict of interest with the institutions, individuals, or subjects they cover. In the event of a potential conflict, it will be clearly disclosed to our readers.
Financial Transparency: We provide transparency regarding our revenue sources (advertising, subscriptions, donations) on our [Link to Funding / Ownership Page]. Editorial content is never shaped by the demands or pressure of advertisers.

II. Social Responsibility and Liberal Approach

Guided by social responsibility, we place special emphasis on the following areas in our editorial line:

1. Amplifying the Voices of the Unheard

Disadvantaged Communities: We prioritize stories and issues concerning communities that are socially disadvantaged, marginalized, or silenced (ethnic, religious, sexual minorities, refugees, etc.). Our goal is to bring their stories to the public in a dignified, accurate, and respectful manner.
The Environment and Wildlife: We place special importance on reporting dedicated to the protection of the planet and other living beings. The climate crisis, environmental policies, and animal rights are an integral part of our agenda.

2. Respect and Sensitivity in Language

Bias-Free Language: We avoid using prejudiced or discriminatory language based on race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, or disability in our publications.
Trauma Sensitivity: When reporting on sensitive events (violence, disasters, suicide, etc.), we pay utmost attention to the mental health of victims and readers, providing supportive notes where necessary.

III. Accountability and Reader Trust

1. Corrections Policy

Prompt and Clear Correction: When an error is detected or reported by a reader, an immediate review is initiated. If the error is confirmed, the correction is made quickly and transparently within the article.
Transparency: Corrections are clearly indicated to readers at the bottom of the article or through an appropriate note.

2. Protection of Sources

Confidentiality Pledge: To ensure the free practice of our journalism, we commit to protecting and not disclosing the identity of our sources, except when legally required.
Anonymous Sources: Anonymous sources are used only when the information is of public interest and the source's disclosure would endanger their safety, and only after editorial approval has been granted.

3. Comments and Interactions

Reader comment sections serve as a platform for constructive criticism and civil discussion. Comments that promote hate speech, harassment, personal attacks, or illegal content will be removed immediately.

IV. Implementation and Contact
